AboutVorticy (pronounced vawr-ti-see) is a small business located in San Diego California started by Mark Pryor in 2007. At the time he worked in the aerospace industry as a mechanical engineer designing and analyzing composite hardware for space application. While watching a MLB baseball game he saw a baseball bat break into a couple pieces and a large piece with a sharp end flew through the air and hit the pitcher in the neck. It seemed logical that something could be devised to retain the broken parts of the bat without changing the bat-ball impact dynamics; a seat belt for the bat if you will. That's when Spiderbats started taking shape. Mark tested several different winding formations using fibers that would make spiders jealous and settled on a solution that worked very well. But as it turns out, it is hard to get anyone interested in something like this. In the mean time, Mark also started making bag toss games and that started to consume all of Mark's free time. So the Spiderbats project was put on hold until MLB faces the fact that something needs to be done to keep bats from flying apart. Unfortunately, it will take a disaster such as a young fan being impelle before any changes are made. Fast forward to the present, Mark is working full time developing new games and technologies. Pong-O is the lastest creation which was launched on Kickstarter. We are very excited about the potential of this game because it is a lot of fun and promotes activity. Vorticy is about performance, value, quality and on-time delivery because we know this is what makes satisfied customers. AerospaceVorticy Aerospace is focused on precision composite structures for terrestrial and space applications. We are currently researching an advanced multifunctional structural adhesives for precision instruments that will help to minimize thermal distortion and stress. Another area of research is based around lightwieght composite mirrors and reflectors. Vorticy also offers engineering support for precision composite structures.
